Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

I recently read an article by Bishop Robert Barron where he was discussing a book he had read, iGen by Jean Twenge. In reflecting on this interesting book, Bishop Barron spoke of how the generation born 1995 and later is extremely anti-religion and are, what he calls, “nones” – those with no religious affiliation. One of the reasons they are “nones” is because the concept of absolute truth does not exist. Truth is whatever you believe to be true which makes the “nones” complete relativists.

In our world, we have truth which is found in Christ, who is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6). At the same time, we have many so called “truths” in the world, whether it’s from other Christian groups, other religions, or the secular world. How many people do exactly what Christ speaks of today, claiming to be “the Christ” and leading people astray. This overabundance of so called “truths” can be confusing and challenging to navigate, especially when those around us stray from the real truth and try to lead us astray with them.

We need to constantly refocus our minds and our hearts on Christ, the real truth. To do this in the world is challenging, but, as St. Paul reminds us, we need to “be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13).
