1 Peter 3:10-22; Mark 12:18-27

Christ is born! Glorify Him!

Ever felt as though you could be “smarter than God?” The Sadducees in today’s Gospel story are giving Our Lord a “case study” regarding a crazy claim of a women marrying seven brothers. Of course they are not actually interested in marriage at all, but in disproving the Resurrection of the dead. In order to do this, they provide mental gymnastics to Christ order to argue against the Resurrection. Of course our Lord answers what it is that they are really speaking about, their question about the Resurrection (not marriage) with beautiful simplicity and honesty.

How do we read the scriptures, brothers and sisters? Do we approach the sacred text with the humility needed to keep an open mind and listening heart which are needed to truly do the Lord’s will? Or have the Scriptures become a tool to further our own personal preferences, hang-ups or agendas? Today before the you read the Scriptures “take your shoes off” before you begin such a holy task and rediscover the beauty, depth and truth of the Lord in His word.
