Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

We have a hard time trusting, brothers and sisters. When we hear someone tell us that they love us we often have at the back of our minds the question “what’s in it for him?” “what is he really after?” We’ve been lied to and hurt and this takes a toll on us.

Abram, who’s name means “father of many” is childless. Up to this point he has left everything and dwelt in a foreign nation for years on the simple promise of an unknown God. His trust is beginning to wane, and yet God’s promise will be even more amazing than what he expected. The way he has worked out God’s plan for himself is not half as incredible as what God has in mind for him. His descendants will be like the stars of the sky and he will move from a “father of many” (Abram) to a “father of many nations (Abraham) when he learns to trust the word of this God who befriended him. Our God is a God who keeps His promises. Our God is a God who loves us unto the shedding of His blood and life for us.

How’s our Lenten walk coming? Have we gone from the idols of our previous lives to the land that God is showing us? Continue practicing your trust in God as we prepare to turn from His preaching in Galilee to the road into Jerusalem.
