Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!

In our home, we have a beautiful framed picture with a quote from St. John Chrysostom’s Paschal homily. The quote is: “And life reigns.” This particular part of the homily comes right after Chrysostom’s famous words “O Death, where is your sting?”

In celebrating the Resurrection of Our Lord, we are constantly reminded that the power of death has been vanquished by Christ’s own death. His death on the cross ensures that for us who keep His word, death is nothing. Yes, we will die on this earth, but death has no permanent hold on us if we keep and follow the words of our Lord, a reminder we receive in the Gospel today. May we not fear death but rather hold onto the words of Christ and let life reign unto ages of ages. Amen.
