Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!
One of the most inspiring characteristics of St. John the Forerunner (Baptist) is his genuineness. Here is a man who has the ear and admiration of many people and yet does not delight in glorifying himself. He is ready to point the way, to speak the truth and witness to Christ even if it means that his own disciples leave him for the sake of Jesus. By bringing people to the Lamb of God St. John fulfils his God-given calling.
Yes, each of us has a calling to discover Christ more deeply, but then we are also called to genuinely point the way for others (Act 1:8, Matt 28:19, John 15:27 etc.). During Bright Week, which is also called Renewal Week—for each Paschal season is a time of faith renewal—we are reminded that our faith is meant to be shared. This means genuinely and fearlessly pointing to Christ with a word, with a gesture, with an invitation and most importantly with our lives. The amazing fact is that when we share our faith with others our own faith benefits. Naturally, when two flames come together fire, heat and light increase.
