Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!
The Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches us that “The Eucharist is ‘the source and summit of the Christian life…For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.’”
The Holy Eucharist is not just something we receive when we go to Church; rather, it is the “food that endures to eternal life” which Christ speaks of in today’s Gospel. The Holy Eucharist is the supra-essential bread that we pray for when we pray the Our Father. This bread nourishes our body and soul; it gives life to the world, to all those who receive it in faith and love.
Brothers and sisters, during this Paschal season, may we make an effort to receive the Holy Eucharist frequently. Do not let Sunday be the only day that we worship the Holy Trinity at the Divine Liturgy and receive the life-giving Body and Blood of Jesus Christ. We can check the local parish schedule and make the Holy Eucharist more central in our own spiritual lives.
