Post-feast of the Dormition; Holy Martyr Myron (249-51)

Read
Romans 15:30-33; Matthew 17:24-18:4

There are times when you are right about some issue and ye it is not appropriate to move forward on that issue but take an alternative and sinless course of action. Jesus makes it clear that He and His disciple are exempt from the Temple tax (an annual tax for those twenty years of age and older). And yet, He did not want to offend anyone. The miracle of the shekel in the fish was done to express that He need not pay the tax.

Lord, I do not wish to become a stumbling-block to others. I do not want to give offense to others. Help me be courageous like you so that I may not cause scandal. May I trust in you always like I did when I was a child.
