Proverbs 1:20-33
There exists a wonderful continuation of instruction from the second half of yesterday’s reading from Proverbs and today’s reading. In yesterday’s reading, Solomon cautions the reader to beware of the dangerous enticements of the devil, who only proposes evil and tries to drag a man into wickedness.
This progresses into today’s reading which speaks of the importance of obeying the wisdom of God and how neglecting the wisdom of God is as dangerous as accepting the enticements of the devil.
What we need to rebuff the enticements of the devil and learn the wisdom of God is discernment. Wisdom, as Solomon points out, is everywhere around us, but we need to discern the voice of wisdom apart from the voice of the devil.
Our increased prayer during this time of the Great Fast will go a long way in helping us discern the wisdom of God.
