Romans 7:1-13

The law of Moses, given to Israel at the time deemed appropriate by the Lord, gave to Israel a new perception of sin. Sin was always there in the human race since the fall of Adam and Eve. The giving of the law allowed Israel to see the nature and gravity of sin. The law acted as a boundary which exposes sin and allows one to understand that sin brings death, it is the cause of death. At the same time, the law as a boundary promoted justice among God’s people and acted as a call to be upright in relationship to the Lord.

It is important to understand what sin is in order to repent and to live the life of grace given to us in Holy Baptism wherein we have been incorporated into the Body of Christ. This is why for Christians is important to do a daily examination of conscience and ask the Holy Spirit to lead in that examination. May the Lord’s grace always guide us!
