Read 2 Corinthians 9:12-10:7
Today St. Paul calls on the Corinthian to reflect on Christian service. Those who acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord and God are called by the Lord himself to have a heart oriented to and ready for service: “But whoever would be great among you must be your servant…” (Matt 20:26). Our incarnate Lord “came to serve and not to be served…” (Matt 20:28). Our Saviour came to serve and is the standard of greatness for humanity. Having a heart dedicated to service is then having a heart after our Lord Jesus Christ. For this reason when we serve without expectation of reward, and with love for Christ, we not only supply the needs of the saints but also give glory to God.
