The Return of the Relics of the Holy Apostle Bartholomew (829-42); Holy Apostle Titus
2 Corinthians 8:16-9:5; Mark 3:13-19

Read 2 Corinthians 8:16-9:5

Recently, my wife and I finished watching Season 1 of “The Chosen.” One of the most striking scenes is the meeting of Nicodemus and Jesus in the dark that is recounted in Chapter 3 of John’s Gospel. In that encounter, we hear an often-quoted passage of the Scriptures, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 ESV).

The love of God is made manifest to us in Jesus Christ. How, then, do we manifest our love for God? One way in which we manifest this love is in the love we show for the Church. None of us are Christians on our own; we belong to a parish community in which we are called to grow closer to God. How do we, brothers and sisters, show our generosity to God through sharing our gifts with the Church? The Church can only continue its mission if all the members of the Body of Christ contribute generously in various ways, showing their care for the Church and their love for God.
