Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
Do you know what is the most repeated command in Scripture? Be not afraid – Do not fear! Yes, it’s true! We are not to be afraid. Rather, we are to have the fear of the Lord. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom (see Job 28:28; Psalm. 110:10; Proverbs 1:7). “He who fears the Lord is never alarmed, never afraid” (Sirach 34:14). What is fear of the Lord? It is the reverent awe of the Lord. Rather than being afraid of earthly dangers, a reverent awe is always a trust in Him in all things. Our Lord is trying to teach this to His disciples during a storm in which even weathered fishermen have become afraid. It helps us learn, too, that the Lord can teach us a powerful lesson in faith through a lived experience. When we learn to trust in the Lord at all times, we remained united in His/our mission to world and disable the enemy’s plan to break us apart. Let’s pray for each other today that we learn fear of the Lord and cast aside all earthly fear.
