Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

“If this man [Jesus] were a prophet, he would have known who and what sort of woman this is who is touching Him, for she is a sinner” (Lk 7:39)

Such thought or statement sounds familiar, for quite often we hear people judging other people. More than that, we ourselves fall into the temptation of judging others as well.

Jesus was far more than a prophet – He is the Son of Man – God. He knows our hearts (1 Jn 3:20), our thoughts and words (Ps 139:2 and 4). God knows everything for He is omniscient, or all knowing. Therefore, He knew who this woman was.

Likewise, Jesus knows whom our friends and acquaintances are; He knows what we know and much more. Therefore, we need not remind Him or point fingers at the people who commit any kind of sin, as, for example, elsewhere one of the Pharisees did (Lk 18:11). This makes us sin, for Jesus says not to judge others (Mt 7:1).

On the contrary, we ought to pray for them and help them overcome temptations. We ought to join Jesus in His mission to bring sinners to Himself, for He “did not come to call the righteous, but sinners” (Mk 2:17).
