Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
As our technology improves (and our daring gets more risky), we are able to see the devastation of some of nature’s storms—hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, etc. We spend a lot of money and work on forecasting and trying to prevent the storms of nature. It is as if we want to tame nature.
Today’s gospel reading reveals that the Lord can tame nature almost casually. Even the storm itself doesn’t disturb His rest; he calms the storm in order to put at peace His disciples. And while he does calm the storm of nature, He addresses the storm of the heart that was going on in each disciple. “Where is your faith?”
When we truly embrace the gift of faith given to us, and let it grow, we will have no fear, no anxiety. No storm, external or internal, will disturb our peace. And should our peace be disturbed, the Lord is always present to restore that peace. And we will marvel!
