Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
In our busy lives, as Lent progresses and the war in Ukraine continues, our lives are filled with busyness. Many, but not all, of the things we are taking on and doing are good, some of them undoubtedly are not. The Christian life is a constant struggle to take on what the Lord asks us to do and to carry out what He has given us with love and dedication.
In our gospel today Martha is doing good things! She is serving and hosting, something which would have been expected of her in her cultural and historical setting. However, her busyness has unfortunately caused her to miss Who is present before her and the opportunity she has to learn from Him.
All our good work and deeds flow from, and back to, our Lord. If we do not take the time every day to spend quiet hidden time with Him we will quickly stop having anything to offer our neighbour. As we continue our Lenten journey, let us be uncompromising on the time we spend with our Lord in secret.
