Read 2 Corinthians 3:12-18
Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
St. Paul makes reference today to the experience of the Jewish people as they looked at Moses as he descended from Mt. Sinai with the Law God gave to him. Because of his proximity to the Lord, Moses was irradiated with the Lord’s glory. Moses’ face was so bright he needed to veil it so people could look at him without turning away.
St. Paul uses this experience as an analogy to explain how, although having the Scriptures, the Jewish people had the truth of Christ as the interpretive key of the Scriptures hidden from them. On the road to Emmaus, Christ meets His disciples and opens their eyes to recognize Him in the Old Testament. St. Augustine righty states: “The New Testament lies hidden in the Old, and the Old becomes manifest in the New.”
As we continue our daily Bible reading, let us confirm ourselves in the fact that as we read, we encounter Jesus, who is the key to unlocking any Bible passage.
