Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
The harvest is indeed abundant. Many people, children of God, are unaware of the Father’s love and mercy for them. Many doubt the existence of God; others consider God a distant entity who has forsaken the entire creation; still others have the impression God is not approachable, or understanding, or fair, or loving.
Far too many people, for various reasons, misunderstand and misconceive the identity of almighty God.
These are the people – the harvest – who need to be exposed to the good news of the Gospel: that Jesus is the Christ or Messiah, the savior of the world, Who, through His death on the cross and resurrection from the dead restored that fallen state of man and restored the mankind’s relationship with God.
These are the people who need hard working labourers of the Gospel, so that the good news may reach the ears of every single child of God, young and old, happy and sad, lonely and forgotten, in the society and imprisoned, at home and out on a mission.
It is, therefore, our responsibility to evangelize, to share with those around us the good news of Jesus Christ, while also praying for more vocations to the priesthood and monastic orders.
As St. Francis of Assisi once said, “Preach the Gospel at all times; use words when necessary.”
