Read Mark 10:46-52

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

“Throwing off his cloak he sprang up and came to Jesus” – a priceless reaction we may say, without any hesitation.

Despite the rebuking and the silencing, Bartimaeus did not give up, but instead insisted even more to get Jesus’ attention, because he was in need of help.

Jesus also sees this need, and miraculously restores his sight.

Jesus also sees the needs of many others nowadays, the outcast, the forgotten, the despised and the poor.

Although Jesus does not walk the streets in the same manner as He did 2000 years ago, His love, mercy, care, kindness, and presence are still always available to everyone.

We, as followers of Jesus therefore, should see the needs of these brothers and sisters in Christ as well and assist Jesus and continue His saving mission here on earth.

We should keep our eyes and hearts open to the needs of such people, encourage them not to give up despite their silencing, because Christ will not disappoint them.

Jesus shows no partiality, makes no distinction between the poor and the rich who come to Him.

St. James, in his letter, is reminding us of this as well: “show no partiality as you adhere to the faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ” (2:1).
