Read 2 Thessalonians 1:10-2:2

Today St. Paul reminds us in 1 Thessalonians 1:10–2:2 of the importance of steadfast faith and trust in God’s promises. He encourages us not to become overly preoccupied with predictions about the end times. In the Gospel of Luke 12:42–48, Jesus speaks of the faithful and wise steward who remains vigilant, knowing that the master may return at any unexpected hour.

Both readings invite us to focus on living faithfully in the present rather than being anxious about the future. Instead of worrying about when the Lord will return—a moment that will come like a thief in the night—we are called to deepen our relationship with Christ today. One of the most profound ways to do this is through regular participation in the sacraments. Through Confession, we experience God’s boundless mercy, healing our hearts and restoring us to grace. In the Eucharist, we are nourished by Jesus Himself, uniting us more closely with Him and strengthening our bond with the Church, His Bride.

We need not fear what lies ahead when we place our trust in the Lord and embrace the holy mysteries He has given us. By living each day with faithfulness and love—like the wise steward—we allow His grace to transform us, preparing our hearts for whenever He may come.

Let us stand firm in hope and be courageous in faith. Rather than being consumed by predictions and fears, may we focus on growing in love and service, confident that God holds the future in His loving hands. Trusting in His perfect timing, we can live with peace and joy, ready to welcome Him whenever He returns.
