Read Proverbs 14:15-26

A quick-tempered man acts with recklessness,
But a man with discernment bears many things.

Whether it be the big issues in our lives or the small ones, we tend to make decisions, more times than not, with some logical thought and consideration for contingency, and we might also ask the Lord for guidance in prayer. This is good practice. How do we make that better?

The verse above underscores the need for careful consideration and not being easily swayed by superficial appearances or hasty judgments. There are times when things look to be good but in fact are so only in appearance. Discernment is taking the time to see it what is before us is true or false, and making decisions that are in line with God’s will, and the teachings of His Bride, the Church.

Uttering a prayer for God’s guidance is good, but submitting to His teaching and applying it in our lives is better.
