Acts 5:1-11; John 5:30-6:2.

Read John 5:30-6:2

We see Jesus being accused of going against the Law of Moses for performing healings on the Sabbath. What ensues is an exchange of different perspectives. On one side there are “the Jews” who want to condemn Jesus by claiming that He does not follow the Law of Moses. Jesus responds to this accusation by presenting his witnesses that is John the Baptist, the works that Jesus performs and the word of the Father which they heard from on high. However, the witnesses that Jesus presents to “the Jews” are not accepted. Jesus is presenting a perspectives that leads from death to life and He will fulfill this perspective with his own death and resurrection. While “the Jews” who are more intent on preserving their lives and their status in this world, are being warned that they will end up losing the gift of eternal life if they persist in their perspective. May we also consider how human and worldly glory pass away and that it is only the glory of God that is eternal and leads to eternal glory with the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
