Romans 10:11-11:2; Matthew 11:16-20.
Read Matthew 11:16-20
Jesus uses a parable of children in the marketplace who are unhappy with their peers to illustrate how both He and John the Baptist were rejected no matter what they did. John the Baptist was criticized for his fasting, and Jesus was criticized for His lack of fasting. Some people already had their minds made up to reject the teachings of John the Baptist and Jesus. They refused to believe and could not be convinced.
There are people in the world today who likewise have decided not to accept Jesus’ teachings before ever hearing them or fully understanding them. People form prejudices and harden their hearts from being enlightened by the wisdom that comes from God. Let us pray for those in the world who are stubborn and hard of heart. Let us not be blinded by our own prejudices but rather seek to learn and grow closer to Christ with an open heart.
