Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!
In today’s gospel passage Our Lord puts a very tough question to us: what do you glory in?
There are essentially two options: we glory in ourselves and in what people say about us, or we glory in the ways in which God continually reveals Himself to us. Of course, the greatest revelation of God is Jesus Christ in whom we encounter not only what it means to be truly God through His saving power on the cross and in His resurrection but also what it means to be truly human. If we truly confess that Christ is risen from the dead then this should bring about a significant and ongoing change in our lives: we join ourselves to Him and in doing so become more fully human. To be more fully human is to manifest His presence in the world by our faith and the love for others that it fuels. To glory in God is to give thanks to Him and to worship Him. To glory in God also means to give ourselves to others and to recognize Christ in them, especially those who suffer in various ways.
