Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
When you have a big task to accomplish, do you ask for prayer support from others? St. Paul certainly did. Knowing the difficulties that were to arise in his mission, he asks specifically to be delivered from unbelievers which could be a threat to his life and mission, and also for the quality of his service to the believers. St. Paul is very aware of the unseen (and sometimes very visible) warfare that preaching the gospel entails. Notice how he ends with humility? He does not say that he is coming to preach or teach them, but to “be refreshed in their company.” Preaching the Word is for Paul’s sake as well as theirs!
As we prepare to celebrate the Dormition of our Most Pure Lady, let us approach the feast in a spirit of prayer and humility!
