Post-feast of the Dormition; Holy Martyrs Florus and Laurus (313-24)
2 Corinthians 5:15-21; Mark 1:16-22

Read 2 Corinthians 5:15-21

A few months ago, I was speaking with a brother priest about his now teenage children and the unique challenges of raising children as a priest and the lives of the children of priests. He related to me how he reminds and encourages his teenage children to be ambassadors for Christ in every encounter and situation in which they may find themselves.

By virtue of our baptism and membership in the Body of Christ, we are all called to be ambassadors of our Lord. Just as an ambassador represents and relates the interests of his or her native country in the country of their residence, so we, as ambassadors of Christ, bring forward the interests of our one and eternal home in the heavens into this world in which we reside. Whether in words or with our actions, we are Christ’s ambassadors who are responsible for representing and relating the Kingdom of God.
