Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
Everyone loves a good underdog story. Think of all the movies you’ve seen, or books you have read which show forth the person you’d least expect to succeed at something being successful in the end. Whether it’s Frodo and Sam successfully sneaking the Ring of Power into Mordor, or a sports team slated to fail prevailing in the end, an underdog story is always satisfying.
On closer inspection however, our Epistle reading is not proposing an underdog story the way we might expect or even prefer. It is not that “we could do it if we just tried harder or dug deeper” it’s that we can’t do it all – but God can. Time and time again throughout history the Lord has shown us He is the One able to do wonders when we place our faith in Him.
Are there situations in your life where your pride prevents you from relying on the Lord and His Grace in your daily Christian life? Turn your heart and confidence over to the Lord who is powerful to save and let Him direct your course!
