Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

“Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts…”

It goes without saying that St. Paul’s verbal description of love in Chapter 13 of his first Letter to the Corinthians is eloquent and beautiful. St. Paul’s words should inspire us into a self-reflection of whether our relationships and interactions are founded on love. It may be easier to love those who love us or to love those with whom we share a particular relationship, such as our spouse, parents, or children. Are we truly loving our “loved ones” selflessly?

Too often we ensure that our interactions and relationships are first just, equitable, and honest before we share our love. With love, rather than first seeing shortcomings, we can accept people as they are while desiring the absolute best for them in their life. Do we love others in the way that Christ loves us, a love that desires the absolute best for the other, even those who dislike us?

God is love; He first loved us and has called us to share His love with others. When we love others as God loved us, we communicate God’s love to them.
