Read Philippians 4:10-23
Consider the states of heart that the Apostle Paul references in this epistle: 1) contentment and 2) reliance on the Lord.
On the point of contentment, imagine your life where you are satisfied with your circumstances and with what you have. Sure, there might be some things here or there you wish were different, but deep down you are at peace with your place in the world. Contentment is necessary for peace of the heart. Pray for this contentment! Pray for the ability to say, with Paul, “Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
On the point of reliance on the Lord, we all will face situations which seem insurmountable. We all will find ourselves in some predicament which demands something extraordinary from us and we feel that we cannot do it or are not good enough. Look at Paul and his example: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Our undertakings, especially the ones with the most impact on others, are often going to be the ones where we feel the least capable. It is in these moments when we must remind ourselves that it is Christ who is working and will bring about the effects He desires. We are his servants and hands on earth. Trust that he will strengthen you wherever it is needed.
Put together, keeping these to states of heart will help us towards living out the will of God for our lives and advance His Kingdom in this world.
