Read Luke 19:12-28

One point of interest that this parable invites us to explore is the practice of putting things off until the last minute. It is often the case that we have something going on in our life that we don’t want to deal with and so we avoid it. We can liken this tendency to the wicked and lazy servant from the parable. If we substitute the coin for the thing that we are tying to avoid doing we see that the Master will not be pleased with us when He returns. We have to remember that God allows all the various trials that take place in our lives and that we will have to render an account to Him for how we handled those events. It is hard to believe but if we realize that every moment in our life is allowed by God and that we will be held accountable for how we handled each moment in our life, then we begin to understand the magnitude of just how much we fall short with the “coins” that God has given us. Let us take a moment and consider if there are things that we really ought to take care of even though we would prefer to leave them for another day.
