Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
St. John spells out for us the requirements of being a child of God: following the moral law of God and doing everything out of love. Venerable Bede in his commentary says this: “Love is the great divide between the children of God and the children of the devil. Those who have love are children of God, and those who do not are children of the devil. Have anything else you like, but if you lack this one thing, then all the rest is of no use to you whatsoever. On the other hand, you may lack almost anything else, but if you have this one thing, you have fulfilled the law.” (On 1 John).
Love makes it or breaks it for us. Take a moment this morning to remind yourself who you belong to and what your identity is: “I belong to God who is love; I am His child and therefore it is my identity to be a selfless person of love.”
