One may ask, what is so unique about children since Jesus says that of such is the Kingdom of Heaven (Mt 19:14).
Are we, as adults, so different from children?
A child, for example, forgives quickly, does not hold a grudge. What is the longest time you held a grudge against your neighbour, and, why?
A child does not allow pride to get in the way. On the contrary, is humble, and humility goes a long way in the eyes of God, as Jesus reminds us in the Gospel of Matthew 23:12: “whoever exalts himself will be humbled, but whoever humbles himself will be exalted”. How often does pride get in your way?
Something that is very unique about children is their constant communication with the loving parents or with the people and friends who provide for them – a relationship that we should live when it comes to God.
God provides for us beyond our imagination. How is our communication and relationship with Him? How much do we rely on God versus our own wisdom and skills? How often do we allow worldly affairs to interfere with our relationship with God?
The children consider their parents or the people taking care of them as their safe haven because they know the parents or guardians will do anything possible to protect them.
Is God, therefore, our safe haven, knowing what God, out of His everlasting love and mercy, did and continues to do for all of us?
