All of us are called to be apostles. It is fundamental to our baptismal vocation that we proclaim the Gospel in the world. Like the Seventy who heard the call of Jesus to go out into the world and to proclaim His message of repentance and salvation, we are likewise called to do the same. Like the Seventy, we will meet those who will not receive us and the truth of the Gospel which we proclaim; they will reject it and us. There are others who will listen to what the Holy Spirit says through us. When we go out into the world and work hard to proclaim the Gospel we must remember that it is Christ’s Gospel, not our personal gospel. The Gospel is proclaimed by and through the Church, the Mystical Body of Christ, of which we are all members. We must continually strive to proclaim the Gospel faithfully, joyfully, and in humility and like the Seventy who returned amazed at what was worked in the Lord’s name we will marvel at how the truth of Christ sets people free.

Holy Apostles Bartholomew and Barnabas, pray to God for us!
