Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
“Can’t buy me love!” How right the Beatles are when they sing that love is impossible to buy. Love stops being love when it is bought, sold, coerced etc. The amazing truth of the gospel is the good news that God loved us first, and even when we were sinners. Because God is perfect in every way and does not need anything from us, He can love us like we have never been loved before- completely selflessly and disinterestedly. He never has a hidden agenda or an ulterior motive. Everything we have received from Him is a grace, or in other words, a free gift of love.
Living a life corresponding to the commandments we have been given is actually a response to that love, instead of being a code of living to “earn our way into heaven.” Although we have all fallen short, we continue to strive to live God’s love through righteousness because of the amazing gift of God’s love to us!
