The Holy Venerable-Martyr Febronia

Apostles’ Fast.

Read
Romans 7:14-8:2; Matthew 10:9-15

Consider for a moment the last few times you’ve gotten into an argument or debate with someone about any one topic: Faith, sports, politics, etc. Ponder this question: was the point of your debating or arguing to try to present another perspective or were you trying to convince the other that what you believe is unequivocally correct?

There is no doubt that our Catholic Faith in Jesus Christ is 100% correct and true. Seeing as it’s true, we would love to bring everyone in this world to this fullness of truth and have them embrace Christ and the Catholic Faith as we have. Our discipleship, however, is not a discipleship of argumentation and debate because neither of these tools will get us far in converting the nations. Rather, our responsibility as Christ’s disciples is to open the door for Christ to be welcomed by those whom we encounter and evangelize.

Some may enter through the door while others will slam the door in our and Christ’s face. We are called to bring Christ so that he may convert the hearts of unbelievers.
