Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!
In reading today’s pericope from the Acts of the Holy Apostles, I can’t help but be struck by Paul recognizing the faith of this certain man in Lystra to be healed. All I can think and say to myself is: “How do I become like this man, so full of faith, that it is evident and visible to all that I desire God’s healing and love in my life?” And the answer that keeps coming back to me is, “Today, I will choose joy.”
Of all the people I have met in my life, the ones whom I have found to be full of faith are the most joyful. They radiate the Lord’s joy. They, like St. John Chrysostom, can say in any life circumstance, “Glory to God for all things.” Their joy is palpable and wholly desirable. The Lord’s joy radiates through them and draws others closer to God.
Lord, help me to choose joy today and every day of my life. Help me to find Your joy in every life circumstance so that I may draw others closer to You.
