Monday of the Holy Spirit
Ephesians 5:9-19; Matthew 18:10-20
A day when the faithful are highly encouraged to participate in the Divine Liturgy.
Read Matthew 18:10-20
One of the attributes of our Lord and God Jesus Christ is omnipresence – being present everywhere at the same time; filling all things, yet being contained by none.
Faithful around the world gather together for various religious services and Bible study classes, calling upon the holy name of Jesus; the name above every name (Phil 2:9).
And Jesus gives us the assurance that where two or three are gathered in His name, He is in our midst (Mt 18:20). In other words, our Lord Jesus is not a distant God, watching His creation from afar. Instead, Christ the Lord is a personal God, directly involved with His people and all of creation. To such an extent, that God became part of His own creation – a man – experiencing everything that each of us experiences, except sin.
He is personally guiding His people on that narrow path that leads to salvation (Mt 7:14). After all, Jesus Christ is “the way and the truth and the life” (Jn 14:6).
Next time we gather for a religious service, let us keep in mind that God is in our midst. God’s presence is real and genuine.
By keeping this in mind, will help us stay more focused on prayer, on what we are actually celebrating, and be less distracted by the worldly affairs, for God is with us – Emmanuel (Mt 1:23).
For as St. Paul states, “I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Rom 8:38-39).
