Do not worry – easier said than done, yet quite possible. It is possible because Jesus Christ says so, for He speaks the truth. And we are called to believe in what He tells us, yet we still worry.
The worldly affairs – work, bills, shopping, and vacations – just to name a few, become priorities in our lives. We let ourselves be overcome by such worldly matters, matters that bring along worry, stress, fear, and disappointment.
In between all of these and many more, we try to squeeze in a prayer “on the run”, or to make it to Church on Sunday. Sadly, God is often hardly the centre of our lives.
We try so hard to accomplish certain goals in life, such as own a beautiful home or receive a certain degree in education, that we are willing to sacrifice a lot for it, even the precious, intimate, and needed time with God.
Once a worldly goal is achieved, we realize something else is now missing, and no matter what we accomplish, something will still feel like missing. The satisfaction of any worldly accomplishment will not last long until our ultimate goal becomes God, Who is love, and His righteousness, which is His saving activity.
Until we are able to trust God to such an extent as to allow Him to take control of our lives, we will not be worry-free.
