Christ is risen! Truly, He is risen!
Today we commemorate St. John the beloved Apostle, Evangelist and Theologian. Of all the apostles and disciples St. John has arguably made the deepest level of contribution to theology in the early Church. The symbol given to St. John is that of an eagle. The eagle is a strong bird that soars swiftly, purposely and is upheld on the winds of the wind—that of the Holy Spirit. We are grateful and marvel at his insightful teachings of the divine identity of Jesus Christ and the Holy Trinity. These deep insights are something that primarily come out of an encounter with the Living God, it is not a purely intellectual or philosophical exercise. This gift of intimate spiritual encounter with the Living God is not something to grasp at but is given purely as gift. God’s revelation is a beautiful gift to those with a pure heart stand at the foot of the Cross with Christ. Those who struggle to live a life of purity and love. Those who do not give into and conform to the demands and pressures of this world, but instead are faithful to the Gospel of love.
