🕀 The Entrance into the Temple of our Most Holy Lady, the Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary.
Feast of the Mother of God.
Hebrews 9:1-7; Luke 10:38-42, 11:27-28.

Read Luke 10:38-42, 11:27-28

How is a person able to dedicate their life to the Lord. When we look at the example of Mary, the Theotokos, we see a total handing over of her will to God through her parents. What is quite remarkable is that Mary was only three years old when her being taken to the Temple took place. Joachim and Anna, her parents, who were childless, had vowed to dedicate their child to God, if He would grant them a child. Indeed, God did grant them a child and now it was time to fulfill their vow to Him. We see how the path that Mary was to follow had already been determined for her before she was even born.  We also see how she consents to that plan by obeying her parents and going along with dedicating to live her life in the Temple as a virgin. Something else to take note of is that If we also realize that Martha and Mary are understood to signify action and contemplation, then Mary, the Theotokos, resembles both in that she hears the will of God and consents to the will of God by following the will of her parents. So in deciding to dedicate one’s life to the Lord one must both listen and do what one understands to be the will of God for their life.
