Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!
One can achieve many different accomplishments in life. Such accomplishments may bring about joy and satisfaction. Today’s Gospel tells us that the seventy [two] returned with a lot of joy because even the demons were subject to them in Jesus’ name. Quite an accomplishment!
Yet, our Lord Jesus Christ brings their and our attention to the importance of the “above”, of wherefrom He comes – heaven. This is, or at least ought to be, our ultimate goal and ultimate, true joy, by the grace and mercy of God.
This is what St. Paul beautifully describes as “what eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him” (1 Cor 2:9).
It is very easy to become tangled up and overcome with worldly things, whatever they may be: accomplishments, disappointments, hardships, good or bad deeds.
However, what matters the most is to have your name written in heaven, because this is God’s ultimate gift to His children who do not reject Him but on the contrary love Him.
