Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

Remember that scene in Star Wars where Princess Leia is trying to convince Han Solo to fight for the Rebellion, promising a reward of riches larger than he could imagine? Remember when Solo replied wryly to the Princess that “he could imagine quite a bit”?

Living in this world sometimes puts blinders on us and especially on the leadership of this world. Due to the Fall, it is easy to start gauging our time here by asking the question “what’s in it for me?” In stark contrast to this worldly wisdom, we see the logic of the Cross, which will never be understood by the world. Instead of seeking more and more of what this world has to give, Christians are promised that they can’t even imagine what God, in His love, will give to those who love Him!

As we prepare to celebrate the Exaltation of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross this week, make some room for the Cross in your life. Where do you take your assurance, comfort, or perspective from the empty promises of this world? How can you join yourself more closely to Christ, and Him Crucified, this year?
