Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory forever!

Two years ago, in the midst of the Year of Mercy, in many Churches there was a greater focus placed on the spiritual and corporal acts of mercy. One of those acts of mercy is “to bury the dead.” It seems obvious to us how we directly participate in this work of mercy but how can we indirectly participate in the burial of the dead so as to do this act of mercy more frequently?

One beautiful tradition in our city is that whenever there is a funeral processions going down one of our city streets, all cars on both sides of the road pull over as a sign of respect for the one being buried and for the family mourning a death. This simple gesture, which may seem like an inconvenience, means so much to those in the funeral procession. It is easy to honour and remember the death of someone you know or love but to do it for a complete stranger is a true act of mercy and love.
