St. Paul boldly tells the Galatians that the Gospel he preaches is “not of human origin.” He did not invent it, nor did he simply learn it from others. It was revealed to him by Jesus Christ Himself. That is what makes the Gospel unlike any other message in history.
The world has always been full of ‘good news’—victories won, discoveries made, diseases cured, economies restored. Yet none of these can compare with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is the greatest Good News ever proclaimed because it reveals that God became man, died for our salvation, rose from the dead conquering death by His death, and opened the way to eternal life. This is not merely information to know, but the living truth that transforms hearts and unites us with Christ through His Church.
Paul himself is living proof of the Gospel’s unmatched power. The one who persecuted the Church became one of its greatest evangelizers after encountering the risen Lord. His past did not determine his future; Christ did!
Each of us also has a story of how the Gospel reached us. Perhaps it came through faithful parents or grandparents, through a priest, a friend, or a quiet moment when the Lord touched our hearts. What matters most is not how we first encountered Christ, but how we respond to Him today. Where is our zeal directed? What are we doing with the gifts God has entrusted to us?
As St. Teresa of Calcutta wisely said, “Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come. We have only today. Let us begin.” Today is the day to live the Gospel, to draw closer to Christ, and to share with others the greatest Good News the world has ever known.
